Portable Projectors for Camping – Stream me UP!

Projectors are getting smaller and far better so I thought it was time to look at seeing how small a projector we could get for the van for movie nights and also when we have meetups and want to watch everyone’s best videos. So I tried out the Apeman M4 and the Blackview Max1 – the latter is actually a mobile phone with a built-in projector.

So our old projector is actually really good, and it’s not too big and bulky either, it’s just 240v only and so using it means having the inverter on, and to be fair the fan in the projector is quite loud indoors. So what I was really looking for was a battery powered projector, we could use in or out of the van, that easily connected to our amazon firestick and iphone and ipad. So no matter where we were it was easy to play movies or watch content. At this point my Samsung Note 5 had also died and so I was looking for a new backup android phone and found the Blackview Max 1 which has a built-in projector, amazing! Well so I thought, it turned up and immediately I found the projector to be blurry, fuzzy and couldn’t be used for anything but a gimmick to show for a few seconds. This lead me to look for tiny battery powered digital led projectors with a really great image quality and easily portable. That’s when I found the Apeman M4 and boy am I glad I did, it’s exactly what I was looking for.

The Apeman M4 is very portable, has an amazing image and even the sound from the tiny speaker is acceptable, it lasts around 2 hours on the internal battery but you can use a power bank to keep it charged up to last longer. So to conclude, the Apeman M4 is now staying in our van, the Blackview M4 went back as it clearly wasn’t fit for purpose and the old projector, which was still really good, went to our daughter and family so they can have big screen movie nights.

We also use a Windows PC stick in the back of the projector, this allows us to connect in our USB hard drives with our movie archive stored on it – which really does give us endless movie nights no matter where we are.
